About 30 Minutes from Shinjuku: Strawberry Picking by Train
If you want to go strawberry picking but do not want a long drive, Fuchu Strawberry Farm in Tokyo is a practical option. The concept is simple: a farm you can reach comfortably by train.
From Bubaigawara Station, the farm is about an 8-minute walk. Nishifu Station is also within walking distance. Private parking is not provided, so public transport is recommended.
Comfortable for Families and Dates
The greenhouse is warm and aisles are wide, making it easier for stroller and wheelchair users. Lower shelves are also prepared so younger children can pick berries more easily.
New Area: Flying Strawberry Tokyo
A sister area opened in 2024 with suspended cultivation that moves vertically. The plan combines seat time with drink bar access and berry picking, creating a picnic-like experience.
Compare Popular Varieties with Free Toppings
The standard plan is 30-minute all-you-can-eat. Main varieties include Yumenoka, Kaorino, Benihoppe, and Yotsuboshi depending on timing.
Condensed milk and chocolate sauce are available with free refills, so you can adjust flavor while tasting.
Reservation and Season
The farm is reservation-only via web booking. Slots typically open from about 30 days before your visit date. The season usually runs from early January to late May.
Finish with Sweets at Tokyo Ichigo Cafe
After picking, visit the adjacent Tokyo Ichigo Cafe for parfaits and desserts made with freshly harvested berries. Fresh packs are also sold for take-home gifts.
A sweet and memorable weekend in Tokyo is much closer than most people expect.
